Bridge Closure for construction in Sulphur Springs
May 30, 2026
Friendly reminder of the major road construction that will completely close the bridge at 154 and Hwy 30. Be safe and patient!!
Texas Department of Transportation officials this week announced the upcoming closure of the South South Broadway Street bridge for construction.
The project is scheduled to begin June 1. During this time, the bridge (also known as the State Highway 154 bridge over Interstate 30) will be fully closed for 21 days under a proposed 24-hour work schedule, TxDOT officials reported.
The Broadway Street bridge is one of seven locations contractor THK Construction LLC will be working on in Hopkins and Franklin Counties as part of a $2,279,664.82 contract gives THK 286 working days, weather permitting to do the seven projects.
Work at the Broadway Street bridge will consist of resurfacing the bridge deck and approaching roadways to address spalling and potholes in the existing concrete pavement.
To provide advance notice to motorists, barricades are scheduled to be put in place one month prior to construction. This is designed to alert travelers of the closure and designated detours. Advance warning signs will also be installed ahead of the shutdown.
TxDOT urges drivers to exercise caution. Motorists who travel frequently in this area are asked to pay special attention to all barricades, traffic controls and signs, and to reduce their speed as they approach and travel through work zones.
TxDOT also cautions motorists to avoid distractions such as cell phones, eating, drinking or car audio or navigation systems.
Drivers are urged to remain alert to road crews while navigating through this and any other construction zone.
